MariCheck is a non-profit organization dedicated to mitigating the spread of FAKE NEWS. We want you all to be informed and learn more about FACT-CHECKING. As we all know, the usual tag for people who are fond of gossiping and eavesdropping is Marites, Marisol, Marife, Mariposa, etc. in the Philippines, that's why we came up with the idea of naming our organization "MariCheck". And most of the time, the information they provide is not entirely accurate, and we added CHECK from the phrase FACT-CHECK. Mission
To provide and ensure quality, fact-dependent information and give genuinely competent and plain-spoken invalidation of myths and misconceptions about the happenings in the society.
Vision
To aid the Internet and its netizens with their combat against the global spread of misinformation, disinformation, malinformation, and also to establish digital media literacy across societies.
Purpose
II. Purpose With today's advancement of technologies, people tend to spend more time surfing the internet. Due to this, the spreading of misinformation is inevitable and has become rampant. Zhuravskaya (2021) expounded that social media is widely known as the first type of mass communication that allows regular users to produce and share information. In addition, a study by Woo (2021) shows that one of the main reasons for the dissemination of it is that so many people use social media, and false tales are often combined with truth, wherein it spreads quickly across the internet.
